Surreal

Yellowstone is a constantly changing place. The New Highland Spring is a rather new feature in the park. It began its activity around 1950 while being a wooded and grassy hillside. The trees became engulfed by travertine.  This picture shows some of those trees with background of calcium carbonite.  A rather surreal view.

Meadow

Meadow at Yellowstone National Park. Vast and beauty. Quietness, calm, and impressive. It is said that a picture is worth 1000 words. Well,  to describe the beauty and tranquility of this meadow in Yellowstone National Park, you will need at least 1000 pictures.  This is only my tip of the iceberg contribution.  I visited the park last August (2016) during National Park Services 100th anniversary.  No question the best present the US has given to the world! Winter in Minnesota can be brutal and dangerous. Still, Mother Nature delivers it with class.  This image shows what an ice storm can provide: Cold, dangerous roads... and amazing beauty! Ice!Ice!Freezing ice on tree branches. Mother Nature's version of painting!

Yellowstone National Park

Last August (2016) I had the fortune of visiting Yellowstone.  Words will not suffice to describe the beauty and splendor of what nature has created.  As I am working through the many pictures I took, I will be posting some, like the three including in this one.  I hope you enjoy them, and help trigger a visit to the Park. It is really amazing!

Bless the rain

Some rain fell on the Grand Teton National Park, helping fight the wild fires. The "fog" seen on the ground is actually smoke from those fires. Amazing spectacle at dawn.
